This article explains the process for adding the following GDSN Attributes:

  • Allergen Related Information
  • Nutritional Panel
  • Place of Product Activity
  • Preparation Serving Container
  • Temperatures

 

Add Allergen Related Information

To add Allergen Information:

  1. Select +ADD ALLERGEN RELATED INFORMATION.
  2. Select Y for Is Allergen Relevant Data Provided.
  3. Click +Add Allergens if you need to declare an Allergen.

 

The "Big 9" Food Allergens in the United States:

  • Milk (AM)
  • Eggs (AE)
  • Fish (AF)
  • Shellfish (UN)
  • Tree Nuts (AN)
  • Peanuts (AP)
  • Wheat (UW)
  • Soybeans (AY)
  • Sesame (AS)

 

Add a Nutritional Panel

Note: The Nutrient Format Type Code Reference must be filled out first before adding a Nutritional Panel. Select US_FDA_NFP_2020_STANDARD.

To create a Nutritional Panel, add the following values:

  1. Metric Serving Size: Specify the serving size in metric units.
  2. Serving Size Description: Provide a description of the serving size.
  3. Preparation State: Indicate the state or condition of the product (e.g., cooked, raw, frozen) for which the nutritional information applies.
  4. All Applicable Nutrients: Include all relevant nutrients with their corresponding Quantity Contained and Daily Value % values.

Add Place of Product Activity (Country of Origin)

  1. Locate Place of Product Activity.
  2. Select 0 Values.

  3. Select + ADD PLACE OF PRODUCT.

  4. Select Add Country of Origin.
  5. Double-click the Blank Cell below the Country Code.
  6. Search the Country from the list.
  7. Select OK.

Add Preparation Serving Container

  1. Locate Preparation Serving Container.
  2. Select 0 Values.

  3. Select + ADD PREPARATION SERVING.
  4. Fill out Preparation Type, Preparation Instructions, and Serving Suggestions.

  5. Click OK.

 

Add Temperatures for Products

To add temperatures, fill in the following values:

  1. Temperature Qualifier Code – STORAGE_HANDLING
  2. Temperature Minimum and Maximum
  3. Temperature Minimum and Maximum UOM – Fahrenheit
