Syndication Only (Using a Standard UGC and Product Feed)

Note:  This documentation is intended for our Syndication Only clients and focuses on the standard method for syndicating UGC and product data by providing a feed in a defined format. Brand user-generated content (UGC) is essential for driving sales on retailer websites. Ensuring that the latest UGC is connected to retail products early in the product's lifecycle maximizes its impact on consumer shopping behavior and conversions. PowerReviews offers a seamless Syndication integration to help you display fresh UGC on your retailer partner websites within the PowerReviews network.

PowerReviews moderates all submitted content to ensure it adheres to the PowerReviews Authenticity Policy and PowerReviews Moderation Policy.

This integration involves two key components:

• Product Data, so that we can match your brand's products to the retailer's catalog
• UGC, including Ratings, Reviews, and Visual Content

All Review and Product Feed Imports need to be submitted to the PowerReviews Syndication Support team by emailing [email protected]

Important Notes

• Reviews only need to be submitted to PowerReviews once, and those reviews will be available to all retailers in the PowerReviews Network.
  • If reviews that were submitted do not display on specific retail websites, please reach out to support for assistance.
• A Product Feed must be submitted with every Review Feed
• Review IDs from your original review provider should be included in the Review Feed, and they cannot be altered
• Historical Imports incur a separate cost and are only ingested during your brand’s implementation.
  • If you have historical reviews that need to be imported after Implementation, you must speak to your Account Executive, as this requires an additional fee.
• If your Page IDs/Product IDs with your Core Provider are changed or if you switch Core Providers, this must be communicated to PowerReviews; otherwise, reviews may not be shared to retail pages as expected.
• Standard PowerReviews Syndication agreements traditionally come with 4 imports during a contract period.
  • If you wish to import content more frequently, you must speak to your Account Executive, as this requires an additional fee.
• Disclosure Code is a required field if reviews were incentivized in any way.
• For a review to be labeled with “Verified Buyer” on retail websites, the user email must be provided in the Review Feed.

Product Data

PowerReviews will use the Product Data you provide to match products across the PowerReviews network. This information should be provided via a Product Feed.

To create a Product Feed:

1. Click here to download the Product Feed and Review Template.
2. In the template, the first tab titled “START HERE” will provide you with instructions on how to properly fill out the Product and Review Feeds.

3. Fill out the Product Feed-BRAND tab with your data

Required Fields

The fields listed in the table below are required for every PowerReviews Product Feed import. Match the exact spelling and formatting to ensure your file is ingested correctly.

product_url	https://www.example.com/product.jsp?item=1234	The full URL of the product detail page on your website. (Must include https://)	This field should not contain spaces. Up to 650 characters.
name	Cleaning Face Wash 8oz	The name of the product.	Encode all special characters. Up to 500 characters.
image_url	https://www.example/com/ image/1234.jpg	The full URL of the product image. (Must include https://)	Ensure you use a high-quality image. The image should be at least 350 pixels in one dimension. Up to 650 characters.
brand	The Face Wash Co.	The product brand. This value must accurately match the brand name given on your website.	Encode all special characters. Up to 50 characters.
upc	UPC: 872760558488 EAN: 0872760558488 GTIN: 00872760558488	The 12-digit Universal Product Code or the 13-digit European Article Number, or the 14-digit Global Trade Item Number.	This field should not contain spaces or special characters. If you have multiple UPCs, you will need to include a line for each variant.

Optional Fields

The fields listed below are optional. In any case where you use the optional field, match the exact spelling and formatting to ensure your file is ingested correctly.

For more information on how to include variants in your Product Feed, see Page IDs & Page ID Variants.	This field is case-sensitive and should not include spaces. Hyphens and underscores are the only special characters supported. If you do not have any other system-generated variant identifier, UPC can be used for this. Up to 50 alphanumeric characters.
description	The best face wash for all skin types. An essential face wash for all skin care lovers.	A summary of the product that can be used by Moderation and Support to validate the relevance and accuracy of the other data points.	HTML markup shouldn't be included in the descriptions. No character limit.

 

UGC (Reviews) Integration

To submit your UGC (reviews including ratings and visual content) to PowerReviews for Syndication to retailers, it must be submitted in a Review Feed.

Please Note: A Product Feed must be submitted with every Review Feed.

To create a Review Feed:

1. Click here to download the Product Feed and Review Template.
2. In the template, the first tab titled “START HERE” will provide you with instructions on how to properly fill out the Product and Review Feeds.

3. Fill out the Review Feed-BRAND tab with your data
4. Once both your Product Feed and Review Feed are completed, send to PowerReviews Support by sending an email to [email protected]

Required Fields

You must provide the following fields in your file for PowerReviews to be able to import your data. Match the exact spelling and formatting to ensure your file is ingested correctly.

Review Display	Skin Care Lover 101 Suzy R	The user's nickname on the review.	Do not include full names or any type of Personally Identifiable Information (PII). If no review display is included, it will be populated with Anonymous. Up to 40 characters.
Review Title	Effective and Gentle	The user-entered review title.	If no review title is included, it will be populated with the first 20 characters of the review text. Up to 60 characters.
Review Date	01/01/2025	The date the user wrote the review.	Use MM/DD/YYYY or any other valid date format.
Review Location	Chicago, IL	The physical location of the reviewer.	Must be a specific location rather than a general region. If no review location is included, it will be populated with Undisclosed. Up to 40 characters.
Review Text	This face wash has become a staple in my daily routine. It effectively cleanses my skin without leaving it feeling tight or overly dry, and I've noticed a visible improvement in my skin's clarity since I started using it.	The main body of comments on the review.
Rating	5	The star rating value.	Numbers 1-5 only. All ratings must be provided in the Review Feeds, including 1 & 2 star ratings.
Verified Buyer	Yes	Verified Buyers are confirmed by the brand to have purchased the product.	Yes or No only. If a review is marked as a Verified Buyer, you must include the user’s email address.
User Email	[email protected]	The reviewer's email address.	This is for internal use only and will not be displayed online.

You may also include any of the following optional fields in your file. Match the exact spelling and formatting to ensure your file is ingested correctly.

Not Helpful Votes	1	The number of users who voted that the review wasn't helpful	Numeric, non-negative.
Merchant Response	Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We appreciate your feedback!	The merchant's response was provided to the reviewer to appear along with the review.	Not all retailers will choose to display Merchant Responses.
Images	https://www.example.com/assets/images/facewash.png	Images submitted with a review.	A pipe-separated list of image URLs associated with the review. Do not use commas to separate images.
Image Captions	Face wash texture before application.	Captions submitted with an image.	A pipe-separated list of image titles and/or captions associated with the review. Do not use commas to separate images.

Disclosure Code	sampling	If a reviewer received any type of incentive in exchange for writing a review, you must disclose it.	Required field if applicable. Enter sampling if the reviewer received a free sample. Enter sweepstakes if any other incentive was offered in exchange for a review.
