recycled GTIN

We have an item that is currently sat up for Walmart.  The supplier notified us, there will be changes to this item, including a new UPC/GTIN.  I went to 1 Sync to set up a new item, it came up as the GTIN already existed.  I reached out to the supplier, they said they are recycling GTIN numbers.  These numbers were used in July 2015.  How can i get this to work?   When I try to build the new item, it says it already exist. If I try to just make changes to it, it says it is already published.  I go to that item # and it doesn’t give me the option to delete pub, only to publish it, like it is not published..  I have attached a few screenshots.  Please let me know what I need to do or who I need to contact.

Hello @Webber123 !

Thank you for your question!

When it comes to changes to existing items registered with GS1, there are cases that require a GTIN change.

You can find out more about this topic here: Can a GTIN be re-used?

The exact decision depends on what is changing about your items. You can see the item attributes that would require a GTIN change in this GS1 document: GTIN Management Standard

If you wouldn't need to use a new GTIN, you will be required to purge the existing item before you can enter it in the system again How to Delete (Purge) GTIN from Item Management.

I hope it answers your question!
